Move to reading ebooks

Now that I am not swamped with advance proofs and an obligation to prioritise the books published by my old employer, I'm having a lovely time reading whatever I want (largely YA it turns out), whenever I want, and in whatever format I want.

Now that I have returned to public transport for my daily trek to work, I'm finding the Kindle app on my iPhone is the most convenient way to read a novel as I struggle with staying upright on a crowded bus as it tears around the corner.
The iPhone is so much easier to hold -- no struggling to keep the book open and turn pages with no available hands. I used to poo-poo the idea -- the screens too small, not the same as a book! but I'm getting so used to it now that when I opened a proper book the other night to start reading, I felt like the pages were so dark and gloomy compared to the back-lit screen I've become so familiar with.

I'm still buying books though -- just not novels which I am relegating to ebook only. But I have more bookshelf space available now for gorgeous illustrated books, coffee-table, cookbooks etc. So still spending lots of $ on books one way of the other.
